Interstitial and line shadowing |
|
| The interstitium is the support structure for the working part of the lungs, a large area interface between blood and air. It comprises vessels lymphatics and connective tissue that is arranged around the numerous pouches of air (the alveoli). This document merely lists those case where the interstitium is thickened enough to be a visible pattern on the chest X-ray. Fluid in the interstitum of the lung is discussed in more detail, elsewhere. |
