Angiomyolipoma is a hamartoma, which is almost exclusively found in the kidneys. The benign tumour is a mixture of fat, blood vessels and muscle fibres. It can be recognised on ultrasound by its reflectivity and on CT. by its contained low density fat. The tumours present in middle age and are more common in women. The presenting symptoms may be pain or even haematuria. There is a higher incidence of the tumour in Tuberous Sclerosis, an inherited dominent mesenchymal skeletal anomaly.
